Object Models.

We turn 3D models into interactive object models: the file knows how the thing works, so your engine does too.

WHAT

An interactive object model is a 3D model that knows how it works: which parts move, on what hinge, how far, how heavy, what it collides with, and how it breaks.

An interactive object model, live in your browser.

How it works

Scroll to watch how the 4x4 you just drove was built: parts cut, hinges placed, hulls wrapped, wheels driven, all found from the model alone.

  1. 01

    Part segmentation

Cut into the parts that should move, each a body of its own with its own mass.

  2. 02

    Interactivity

Each panel on a hinge at its real edge, with a limit and a way to drive it.

  3. 03

    Collision

Convex hulls close to the surface, so an open door is a real door to walk through.

  4. 04

    Locomotion

Four wheels on the ground, the front pair steering. Suspension, friction and mass are in the file.

WHO WE ARE

A research lab
for interactivity.

inhabitable is a community-led research lab working on interactivity. Generative 3D can make a thing look right; we want it to work. That means interactive object models that know their parts, joints and physics, interactive world models that know what happens next, and the frontier between the two.

We are a team of researchers and engineers trying to solve these problems: how a model learns what moves, how a world learns what happens, and how both run live in your engine.
